Anyway, Oliver and I had some amazing sangria at a place called le Bar Dix one night, and loved it so much that we had to take everyone else back the night before he left. While everyone was here we had two amazing French meals, a delicious Japonais meal, and some tasty Pho/Vietnamese. We rang in the New Year at Em's apartment with a view of the Eiffel Tower. The night ended with a long and painful walk home at about 5:00 AM, haha, but it was worth it.
Lydia left yesterday morning and Peter and I have been getting back to our usual routine. Well, minus the fact that we've had to get up at 7:30 the past two days to welcome the plumber. Apparently our shower leaks down into the downstairs neighbors apartment. They first thought that they would have to rip up our entire floor to fix it, but luckily the plumber took one last look and realized he could repair it another way. He was literally about to smash the floor open too. So glad he took a second look!
Peter and I decided to go for a walk today over in the fifth district. It's one of our favorite places to walk. There are a lot of great food places, plus you get to walk by Notre Dame. We decided to go inside the cathedral since there were no lines today. We were just sitting there admiring the inside of the building when someone started playing the organ. It was pretty amazing. It's really hard to believe that the building is 850 years old. It actually sort of boggles my mind.
I'm not quite sure what I'll be doing the rest of this week. Probably repairing some buttons on my coat, reading up on some French history, wandering around the city, and purchasing a new belt at the mall. I'm currently making a second attempt at cooking a roast in the oven. I made one last week, but I cooked it at too high of a temperature, too quickly. The meat had a nice flavor, but it was unfortunately chewy. This time I'm cooking it at a much lower temperature for a pretty long time. Plus, I poured some wine over it this time. I'm really excited about it, so hopefully it will be tasty, haha.
Peter and I are currently working on spending some quality time together and enjoying each other's company. We had a stressful few weeks with the holidays and visitors, so it will be nice to just spend some time together and not have to worry about much. We're hoping to check out some more cathedrals around the city and hit up a few more gelato places!
I hope everyone had an excellent New Year's celebration and is sticking to their resolutions so far. I don't usually make any, but this year I'm hoping to show the people that I love that I care about them as much as possible! That should be everyone's resolution every year.
Here is a link to all of the photos from the past few weeks for those without facebook. Can you believe that I've been in Paris for a whole month already? I can't. Anyway, enjoy the pictures!
